• participated in prosecuting more than 100 foreign patent applications
• filed more than 1000 trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office on behalf of his clients
• obtained numerous foreign trademark registrations for clients
• taught patent law to law students at a major university

His foreign patent work includes participation in contested proceedings before the Opposition Division of the European Patent Office. Killough served as an Adjunct Professor of Patent Law at the University of South Carolina School of Law for six years. Killough serves on two South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) Business and Science Advisory Boards – Biomedical Sciences and Industry 4.0 – the latter of which he serves as Chair. He also serves on SCRA’s Medical Device Commercialization Advisory Panel (MDCAP).
Litigation
B.C. Killough is a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society. Killough regularly litigates intellectual property, unfair competition, and trade regulation matters before US District Courts, and trademark matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute, a national fellowship of intellectual property litigators.
Business Counseling and Transactions
Killough puts his business training and education to work for clients. As an experienced transactional lawyer, Bill Killough has participated in more than 200 commercial transactions representing buyers, sellers, borrowers and lenders. Killough is a problem solver. Clients count on him to provide a wide array of legal advice on which business decisions are made. He has designed novel restructuring of business organizations where changes were indicated. He became a licensed title insurance agent to assist his clients in real estate matters.
Mediation
Bill is certified as a mediator by South Carolina Supreme Court Arbitrator and Mediator Certification Board and is a member of the International Academy of Alternative Dispute Resolution. He prefers to mediate intellectual property disputes and commercial disputes.
